This month we recommend the Monstera Deliciosa– it’s not as grotesque as it sounds. In fact it is one of our favorite plants and its perfect to enliven any corner. Although the name might not be appealing, the look of this plant will definitely leave you mesmerized. It is a statement plant and has an air of class and royalty.
The Monstera is a tropical plant with dark green perforated leaves that give it a unique character. The holes look like punched holes in the leaves, hence it’s nickname Swiss Cheese plant. In the wild, they grow very tall and large, gaining several dozen feet in height. But kept in planters at home, they grow upto 4-5 feet in height over a period of time and can be a highlight piece of your décor.
Caring for it
Being a plant that typically grows in a tropical jungle, it will stay evergreen through the year. You may need to provide a support such as a trellis or a pole for the plant to stay upright. If left unattended this plant can run rampant, so it’s best to keep a watch and trim the leaves when necessary.
This plant is best for indoors and needs indirect sunlight to grow. Monsteras are well suited for humid environment and require watering only when the soil feels dry upon touch.
